Engineering college:

The academic, research and consultancy activities have been broadened by the college continuously to meet the socio-economic and technological needs of the changing times. It has link-ups with some premier institutions and organizations like USAID, UNCHS, Ford Foundation,
European Economic Community and the Governments of Germany and UK. It is also the first college in the country which has its own postage stamp. The Department of Posts ,India has brought out a postage stamp to mark the 200th anniversary of this great institution. The stamp's design shows the building where the college is situated since 1920.
Over the years, many of the top engineering firms in the country have been noted to give preference to COEP for hiring fresh graduates. In recent years, companies such as Tata Motors, Bajaj Auto, IBM, Microsoft, Accenture, Yahoo, Sasken,Google, Symantec, TCS, Cognizant, L&T and D E Shaw India Software, Pvt. Ltd. have been some of the companies that actively recruited graduates.
A fairly high percentage of graduates chose to study further. An estimated 10% chose to pursue higher studies in India while 20% chose to study abroad.[citation needed] This does not include the large number of students that chose to study further after gaining some work experience. USA is the top destination for COEP alumni.
