RioZim, the top gold producer in Zimbabwe, has reported an increased output in the second quarter.
Figures from the company suggest that output increased to 6,334 ounces compared to 6,012 ounces of gold in the same period last year, reports Afriquenligne.
This year, RioZim stated that output in the second quarter also increased compared to the first, which saw the production of 5,498 ounces of the precious metal.
Some 11,832 ounces of gold was recorded by the company so far this year. Last year saw 23,798 ounces of gold produced.
Meanwhile, RioZim's parent company Rio Tinto has received an acceptance of its acquisition of aluminium producer Alcan by the government of Quebec.
Aside from aluminium and gold, Rio Tinto's major projects include diamonds, industrial minerals, iron ore and energy products.
The company states that its approach to sustainable development is embedded in every level of the company.
